Of course, I had originally planned on this story being about 30 pages long. But I kept getting new ideas.
The sequence where Mika slams Oko on the rock, for example, was a late addition, and required some reworking of pages both before and after.
I have, by rough estimate, twenty pages that I ended up dropping from this story.
Perhaps I'll be able to repurpose them.
I left the issue of Kalika's plans for revenge unresolved. I sort of know how I want that to go, but I don't know if I'll undertake it. That was another late addition that required changes, although not many.
Of course, I don't know if I'll even be alive by the time your read this. As of today, the cancer treatment is working – and working better than usual, according to my oncologist – but that's no guarantee that it will continue to work.
As I write this, there is also the chance, depending on the outcome of the presidential election, that I will lose coverage for my cancer treatment and have to stop. This is an issue with home state politics as well as national; it doesn't mean the same thing will have happened everywhere else.
This is far and away the longest catfight story I have ever attempted, or completed. As I've said before, I don't think I'll ever try one of this length again.
